This workshop proposes a technical and playful approach to floor-work and to partnering tools.
Strong physicality, delicacy, complicity and imagination.
We will approach movement from the basis of an articulated, soft, agile, fast, versatile and
powerful body. Taking advantage of the movement capacity of the spine as a motor for
movement (curves, spirals, twists, ripples and combined undulating movements), we will go
through floor work, with rolls, glides, simple acrobatic movements and jumps.
We will do partnering practice, researching on weight transfers, movement projection in space
and group mechanics. Using strategies that unfold from subtility to complex shared paths.
To awaken the fine-tuning, the awareness and the sense of team. And we will put into practice
the different eye ranges, detail, precision and playfulness.

In this workshop, Sjoerd Vreugdenhil will go back to the foundation of improvisation
based on the improv technologies of William Forsythe and focus on the aesthetic and
preparation that is needed to be able to execute this technique.
During these three days, one gets an enormous amount of information, that could
catalyze your own dance signature and vocabulary. In both levels, there will be time
to implement the given information, and use it for dance composition.
Sjoerd Vreugdenhil will be not only your teacher but also function as an outside
eye to guide, open your eyes and give physical suggestions. Feel welcome and be
surprised about yourself what you will be able to learn in only three days and can
implement the rest of your career as a dancer and / or creator.
